Cultivars

This page provides a growing index of named Sansevieria cultivars, commonly known as snake plants.

Cultivars represent the greatest diversity within cultivated Sansevieria. Through selection, growers and collectors have developed plants with distinctive leaf patterns, colours, sizes, and growth forms.

Many of these snake plant cultivars are widely grown in homes and collections around the world, yet reliable documentation about their origin and characteristics is often scattered across horticultural literature and collector communities.

The aim of this library is to gradually document these cultivars with clear identification notes, photographs, cultivation information, and references.

The index will continue to expand as additional cultivars are researched and documented.

Recent taxonomic studies place Sansevieria within the genus Dracaena. In this library, the name Sansevieria is retained for clarity and continuity with horticultural and collector literature.

References

Relevant sources on Sansevieria cultivars may include horticultural literature, nursery catalogues, collector publications, and botanical references. Specific sources will be cited within individual cultivar profiles as the library expands.

Documentation Note

This cultivar index is intended as a developing reference for named Sansevieria cultivars. The list reflects cultivars currently documented in horticultural literature, nursery trade usage, and collector communities.

Because cultivar naming is not always standardized across sources, some entries may represent synonyms, trade names, or informal collector names. Individual cultivar profiles will clarify origin, distinguishing features, and accepted naming where possible.

Accuracy Note

While care is taken to maintain accurate and well-referenced information, cultivar naming and classification may vary among sources. Readers conducting formal botanical or horticultural research are encouraged to consult multiple references.

Contribute Additional Information

If you grow a cultivar listed here or have additional information about its origin, characteristics, or cultivation, your contributions are welcome.

Observations from growers, collectors, and researchers can help improve the accuracy and completeness of this library.
